SS067 Shepherd & The Shrink Health Beyond the Scale with Erin Moore
Erin Moore is a friend of Marty’s from another life. She is a healthy living strategist who focuses on holistically helping women live happier, healthier lives through improving their physical health.
Today, Erin joins us to talk about her mission. She explains what it means to be a healthy living strategist and notes the importance of going back to the basics to counteract information overload. She explains why too much information is unhealthy, she defines health, and she notes that food intake affects the brain. We discuss the link between body, mind, and soul, noting that pursuing good physical health is the gateway to good mental and spiritual health, and also that a healthy mental state plays a huge role in the journey to a healthy physical state. She talks about the power of getting out of your head, explains why forbidding yourself to eat certain things is usually counter-effective, and shares her insight on getting off of the guilt-shame cycle. We discuss the many reasons you shouldn’t shame yourself, and she notes the power of self-talk, positing that mind can create matter. She notes the importance of setting appointments with yourself, explains why you should treat time with yourself like an emergency, and shares why it’s okay to mess up. She tells why the journey to health is a one-step-at-a-time journey, and she discusses the fact that, as Christians, we have just one judge.
“Everyone for everything will always say, ‘I don’t have time.’ But yet, the moment someone else needs something...we drop it all and we’ll run to that, even if it’s not a true emergency.”
