SS052 Shepherd & The Shrink The Transformational Nature of Grief
From our point of view, death often seems like the end of life, but this is not the case. Rather, death is the beginning of something new. In this episode, we talk about this truth in the context of Marty’s own recent experience with the death of his father.
Today, we talk about how grief can be transformational. We discuss the three ways the Bible talks about death, and we explain why eternal life can begin now (as opposed to just when we die). We define justification and explore what Wesleyan theology has to say on the subject of grief. We talk about different types of grace, and we note that, the closer you come to death, the less you fear it. We discuss why this is, and Marty shares his testimony of the death of his father. We note that life is active, not passive, and we share the question that everyone should ask themselves.
“When you’re talking about human beings, death is not the end of life. It’s the beginning.”
