SS023 Shepherd & The Shrink Christianity and Mental Health

Geoff Black is the campus pastor at Northridge Church, and today he joins me (Dr. Martin Fletcher) to discuss the state of mental health in the Church. This is an important issue today more than ever because, due to many factors (including the COVID-19 pandemic), mental health is currently a pressing problem both in the Church and in the world.

Today we discuss mental health in depth. We talk about many Christians’ perception of it and how it relates to the Church. We talk about the importance of a constant and supportive community, even for introverts. We discuss the peace and hope that comes with Christianity, as well as forgiveness (both the giving and receiving sides of it). We talk about humility and note that, in Christ, failure isn’t final. We discuss the importance of a real relationship with Christ and talk about how an hour on Sundays isn’t enough to form one.

“God created us to be in relationships.” Geoff Black

“We don’t have to keep focusing on the temporary, because we have the eternal.” Geoff Black
